چکیده

The paper describes a Multicasting network using PIM-DM (Protocol Independent MulticastDense Mode) with two queuing algorithms Drop Tail and Random Early Detection (RED). A simulation environment is created in NS2 to analyse and contrast Drop Tail and RED for queue management on basis of drop out data packets in network. The experiment indicates better performance of RED by 13.7375% on the basis of reducing drop out data packets. The topology is created using TCL to simulate multicast network and graphs are generated in Tracegraph, to contrast the difference. Keywords— PIM-DM, Drop Tail, RED, Data Multicasting, NS2

Performance Evaluation of AQM Algorithms for PGM based group communication in PIM-DM Multicasting Network

Active Queue Management (AQM) can potentially reduce packet loss rate in the Internet. This is used by routers for control congestion, where packets are dropped before queues become full. In this paper, comparative study has been done using NS2 simulator. By examine five different AQM techniques i.e. RED, RIO, SFB, SRR and BLUE the performance of network has been evaluated on the basis of three...

Drop Tail and Red Queue Management with Small Buffers: Stability and Hopf Bifurcation

There are many factors that are important in the design of queue management schemes for routers in the Internet: for example, queuing delay, link utilization, packet loss, energy consumption and the impact of router buffer size. By considering a fluid model for the congestion avoidance phase of Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease (AIMD) TCP, in a small buffer regime, we argue that stabili...

Analysis of RED-Family Active Queue Management Over a Wide-Range of TCP Loads

RED is an Active Queue Management (AQM) technique that is intended to achieve high link utilization with a low queuing delay. Recent studies show that RED is difficult to configure for some rapidly changing traffic mixes and loads [2]. Other studies show that under some conditions, the performance gains of RED and its variants over traditional drop-tail queue management is not significant given...

Performance Evaluation of BST Multicasting Network over ICMP Ping Flood for DDoS

The Paper evaluates the performance of Bi-directional Shared Tree (BST) multicasting network with two sources and four receivers, attacked by five attackers. These attackers attack the source 1 in network by ICMP Ping Flood. Here we execute the simulation and draw network throughput between source 1 and source 2, queuing transmission delay and drop out data packets at source 1 for ping packet o...

Analysis of Active Queue Management

Active Queue Management (AQM) is intended to achieve high link utilization with a low queuing delay. Recent studies show that RED, one of the most well-known AQMs, is difficult to configure and does not provide significant performance gains given the complexity required for proper configuration. Recent variants of RED, such as Adaptive-RED are designed to provide more robust RED performance und...
